sky goes dark

Sky - The Bigger Picture is proud to be working with Capital 95.8 on Lights out London.

As the world's first carbon neutral media company we believe Sky is the ideal partner for the event. Sky has an ongoing commitment to reduce its own impact on the environment and is helping millions of customers to take small steps to reduce theirs.

Christian Cull, Director of Customer Communications at BSKYB said: "Anyone who cares for London should come on board and take part in Lights Out London. Let's get the whole city together on this and show what we are made of. The message from the capital will shine out far more brightly than any light from any city on this planet."

One of the latest innovations from Sky is their 'Auto Standby' feature on Sky+ and Sky HD boxes. The 'Auto-Standby' feature monitors whether people are using their Sky boxes overnight. If the box has not been used for a period of two hours after 11.00pm, the box will go into Standby mode automatically.

If every digital TV user had a box with Auto Standby the UK's carbon dioxide emissions could be reduced by 32,000 tonnes4 a year!

Did you know?

By using just two energy saving light bulbs in your home, this will save the same amount of energy that your Sky+ box will use over its lifetime.
